Azerbaijan made its Paralympic Games début at the 1996 Summer Paralympics in Atlanta, with a two-man delegation to compete in track and field and powerlifting. Azerbaijani athletes have won a total of fifteen Paralympic medals, of which four gold, five silver and six bronze. All of those medals have been won in track and field, shooting or judo. * Ilham Zakiyev in the men's over 100 kg category in judo, in 2004 and in 2008
* Oleg Panyutin in the men's long jump (F12 category) in 2004 and triple jump (F12 category) in 2012

* Ramin Ibrahimov in men's judo (69 kg) in 2012
* Afag Sultanova in women's judo (57 kg) in 2012
* Natali Pronina in women's swimming (100m Breaststroke SB12) in 2012
